Wow! Has it really been a week and a half since my last post? I have been very busy with dr. appointments, family activities and church functions. The weather has been beautiful and we have taken full advantage of it. This has not left much time to blog. However, I have tried to pop in and out to check on everyone. Thanks to all you for your comments and messages of concern. You all are the greatest friends!
I have lots of things to blog about, but today is going to be about our latest trip. I have pictures!
This, of course, is Nathan on our starting journey.
This is a shot of the water from the bridge.
This is the front entrance to Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium. Too bad I didn't get all the boys in this one that wanted to dip their fidgety fingers in the pool.
I didn't capture the shark too well in this picture. He looks more like a shadow at the bottom. Can you see him?
This was the largest turtle I have ever seen swimming the way this guy was. He made me think of Little Nemo. Hmmm...speaking of that, I didn't see a clown fish this time.
Much to the boy's delight, they were able to touch the stringrays at this little area. Needless to say, there was much handwashing going on afterwards.
There goes the turtle again. I had a pic of his belly, but I don't know what happened to it.
Here is Nathan and Amanda digging for shark's teeth. Hey, this is better than paying $3 for a couple of them in a small bag.
The boys are sitting around having our packed lunch. This piques the interest of a few friends below.
Caleb decides to feed them.
>
These birds were aggressive!! I would have taken a shot of that, but I was probably trying to protect myself and family! LOL! These only represent a few of the many!
This is the Amanda crab.
Caleb crab and immediately below him is the Nathan crab.

For some reason, I always associate these beautiful "sun behind the cloud" views with Jesus' return. I picture Jesus with his foot on the bottom cloud with hands raised calling us to "come up hither." Glorious!
This sunset appeared after a few more miles. Lovely, isn't it?
Nathan was worn out and slept all the way home.
It was a long day, but one enjoyed by all. I was especially proud of Nathan for being so well behaved. I thought I was going to have a problem keeping him in the stroller, but I didn't. Yay! Caleb got to romp and stomp with his buddies and he couldn't have been happier. I was probably as worn out as Nathan, but couldn't get my "snore on" until after midnight.
God has blessed us with so many wonderful things to enjoy. We all need to take the time in our busy lives to do just that. Enjoy!

About Those Steaks........
I don't think there has ever been a MORE beautiful day! I slept in for awhile this morning, but still was up early enough to have a very productive day. I feel like I started cleaning as soon as my feet hit the floor. Actually, I fixed Nathan's breakfast first and then it began. I took those steaks out of the freezer to thaw and went right to work. I wanted to rearrange my cabinet in the diningroom, but that will have to wait for another day. It was more of a day of straightening things up. I was able to get some things sorted that I have been planning to give away and that feels nice. They are in my trunk and ready to go! Yay for me!!
I had to take a short break to mail an important document that I had forgotten about. Since I live in the country, my mailbox is down by the main road. I got into the car and pulled down the drive to see the usually late mailman driving away from my box. Just seconds away. I proceeded to drive in his direction and caught him on the next road. Mail is mailed. *whew*
Have you ever noticed if you stop what you are in the middle of, it is hard to get right back to it? Well, this is what happened to me. Since I was already out, why not take care of a few other errands. I know, I was so anxious to get back and start scraping those rails! It was definitely on my mind. That is why I had to stop by walmart, ( I entered the lawn and garden area because I wasn't really dressed for shopping. Thus, I did not want to see anyone I knew. This is a sure fire way to see LOTS of people you know, take note to remember that next time.) and make my purchase of two, lovely geraniums. I mean, how could I have freshly scraped and painted porch rails without red geraniums to accent the work?
I finally got back home and decided to sweep my porch off while Nathan played outside. One thing led to another and pretty soon I was filling up the bird feeder, cleaning out the birdbath, and so on. I decided to trim the hedges and clip the underbrush from my river birch trees. This wore me out! It was starting to get late and I knew I wasn't going to get to those rails today. *sigh* I knew I needed to prepare the steaks for grilling. I have been looking forward to this ever since I mentioned it the other day. I marinated them while I prepared the potatoes and corn on the cob. Amanda wanted some BBQ bread and went to the grocery store to get some. I made a pitcher of tea and waited patiently for hubs to start the grill.
When he came inside and I knew something was amiss. Any wife that has been married awhile has learned to *read* their hubby's body language and didn't like what I was reading. I knew there wasn't going to be any grilling going on at our house. I asked anyway, you know, hoping I was wrong. Seems "the grill isn't acting right" and my thoughts of hot grilled steak faded quickly. Now, I really could have had a "field day" here as my grandmother use to say, but for the sake of keeping harmony and being a good wife, :) I restrained myself. I won't go into details, but let's just say that grills were on sale about two weeks ago and I pleaded with hubs to get a new one. The one we have is several years old and needs replacing, I reasoned with him. He informed me that our grill was JUST fine. Can you see where I'm going? :)
I got the broiler pan out placed our not going to be grilled beef on top, all without grumbling. Thank-you, Jesus. I lovingly finished preparing everything and we were seated and ate in peace. Thank-you, Jesus. I keep thanking Jesus because I could have blown it, as the usual act of my flesh and not heard the sweetest words of the day. After hubs had eaten and was resting on the couch I heard him make a softly spoken remark. I asked him to repeat it a little louder although I heard him the first time. "I wish I would have bought that grill" I don't know about you, but that sure tickled my ears! There is joy in serving Jesus! And honey, just in case you're reading this, I do too! You know I love you!
I presented the latter part of this post in a lighthearted way, but something can be learned here. Even though I have been in similar situations, sad to say, I haven't always used wisdom gained from my previous lessons. I have allowed the flesh to rise up and missed what the Lord would have me do. I am reminded of this when He tells us to "BE Still and know that I am God" He is always teaching us, if we are willing to learn, and again, I thank you, Jesus.

PLEASE PRAY NOW
I have an urgent prayer request. There was a celebration at school today for children who participated in a candy fundraiser. Upon picking my son up after school, I learned that one of the children had been injured. He fell off the back of another student during a relay race. He landed on his head. I knew the moment he said those words it was serious. I felt it in my heart.
After arriving home, I received a call from another parent who was concerned that it was my child from the description given. Thank God it wasn't. I have learned he has broken his neck. Please be in prayer with me. I would like to ask all that would, to please post this on your page so others can be praying. I serve a God that is able to mend this child's every muscle, bone, and spinal injury. Please pray that he will not be paralyzed, in JESUS' name! Also pray for the parents of the child. I don't want to even think of the anguish they must be suffering.

Will They Or Won't They
I am ready for a get away weekend. I know it hasn't been that long since I was away on my anniversary, but it sure seems like it. It was soooo nice. Those treasured memories are strongly trying to persuade me to convince hubby to pack the bags and hit the road. It's funny how things change as you get older. He's usually the one wanting to spend time away and I am the one who reasons that we don't have the money to splurge.
I think I failed to mention this purchase from our last trip to the Biltmore House. Yes, my hubby purchased this lovely book for me from their gift shop. I was thrilled with this gift. I couldn't wait to get alone with it and devour every page. There are so many beautiful pictures and lots of recipes. I was also pleasantly surprised to find one of the same patterns I have collected, used in one of the tea settings.
Although the weather is suppose to be nice this weekend, I am sure we will spend it at home. We have unfinished projects that need our attention. My porch rails need to be scraped and painted. I can hardly wait to get started on that. (she said with sarcasm) Seriously though, I have plenty to keep me busy and I really enjoy working outside on nice Spring days. It also gives us a chance to crank the old grill up. I have some steaks in the freezer and a new marinade I want to try. Hmmm...... I am looking forward to it already.

Wal-Mart Burial Plots?
Have you ever had someone tell you, other than your spouse, they want to be buried right beside you when they die? My sister informed me of this particular wish just today. Now, you would have to know her to realize how BIG this is. She is actually my step-sister, but since I dislike the thoughts associated with that term, I do not refer to her as such. We have a close bond and always have. She has always been the "planner" of the family. She has a schedule for everything. She is presently living out of state, but when she lived here, in my town, you had to get "penciled" into her schedule. She had the weekends and all the family activities well planned and organized and she made sure her time was spent wisely.
I wasn't expecting to get a call from her this weekend since she was home for Easter. I had gone to Ross', (big surprise) to browse around their fantabulous aisles when the call came. It's only fitting she would call me while I'm shopping. Did I mention that we are the absolute bestest shopping buddies? We were once hailed the Wal-Mart queens, but since being introduced to Ross, by me, of course, it has now been lauded as one of her faves also. Since she doesn't have one where she lives she is anxious to enter the doors of the one here when she is home. I am more than happy to accomodate her. Anyway, she ask me if I had gotten her message. I told her that I had not. She nonchalantly proceeded to tell me what she had been thinking concerning this burial idea. She also told me she knew of a place we could get our plots and how cheap they were. Now of course, I'm thinking she is just adhereing to her normal "plan ahead" behaviour. This would only make sense considering since we both have turned thirty, our birthdays come faster than a jet propelled anything!
She begins to tell me about a place she remembers visiting as a small child. These were family gatherings that involved all the hide and seek you could handle, as well as some roughing up by cousins that made you glad it was once a year gatherings. Easter. She was saying it was Easter festivities that brought them all together. With the recent Easter weekend home these memories were stirred and she remembered the small cemetary located on the same property. Upon further investigation, she learned she could purchase two plots for a very reasonable rate.
By this time I am standing in the aisle getting all sentimental feeling my heart being squeezed to the moment of tears. I am soooo honored. I mean, she wants me. ME to be buried beside her. Not her spouse or any of her children. ME. What in the world have I done in her eyes to be offered such a position? My life has impacted her more than I realized. My mind is in a whirlwhind of thought. Was it something I said? A simple act of kindness? Just as I was about to start babbling like an idiot and right before the snot started to trickle down my face along with crocodile tears, I composed myself long enough to finish hearing her reason. WAL-MART. She found out that Wal-Mart had purchased the site of those family gatherings. Along with the purchase agreement, the cemetary was to be fenced in and maintained with members of the family having burial options at reasonable rates. As a kind of shopper's last stand, she wanted us to be buried together on Wal-Mart grounds. Now is that sisterly love or what???

Sucessful Surgery!

It has been a cloudy and drizzling day on the outside, but a wonderful day of praise and gratitude unto God. My cousin called me about 11:30 a.m. to inform me that my aunt was being taken to surgery 3 hours ahead of time. I was totally unprepared for this and was in a race to get to the hospital before they took her back.
The hospital parking area has been under construction for some time now. This means that parking has been redirected to a large lot a few blocks away where shuttle buses then transport you to the main entrance. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. By the time I pulled into the lot and parked, two of the shuttles had already collected their umbrella waving passengers and headed out, leaving the smell of diesel fuel behind.
I dropped my umbrella on the wet pavement trying to get to the bus stop. I was trying to hurry because I thought the next shuttle would be rounding the corner any second. NOT. I didn't bring a jacket with me cause I just knew it was going to be warmer out than it was. Well, it wasn't. It was cool and in the forties, and I was standing jacketless under a leaking shelter. Praise God! I am really not complaining here. Just sharing what happened. *smile*
I finally made it to the surgical floor to find my aunt's surgery in progress. I was a little dissapointed, but I knew I didn't have to be there. God was there long before I arrived and His presence is the most important. The surgery was to take between an hour and an hour and a half. Patiently we waited. It was two and a half hours before the doctor would come in and give us the report.
All is well. She sailed right through it. (his words) Didn't loose much blood so she didn't need to be given blood. He kept telling us how smoothly the surgery went as if he was surprised. I wasn't. I knew all along that the prayers of His saints had been effective. The Lord had been there from the beginning, guiding the entire process. Faithful is He, as always.
We were anxious to see her, but had to wait until the nurses had her stable and back in her own room. She was still very groggy from the medication, as expected, but she spoke immediately as we entered. I overheard the nurse expressing concern over the amount of visitors she had. I decided I would leave since I had "checked in" on her. As I was saying my goodbyes, her son and his wife decided to leave also. Then, her other son (the only one there) decided he wanted to go and get something to eat. This would leave no one there with her. He then asked me if I wanted to sit with her for awhile. I did. She would doze off and on to sleep. I just sat in the chair beside her bed looking at her face. I could see the relief she felt of having the surgery behind her. I could also feel the wonderful peace of God in that room. I can never thank Him enough for His care. Hallelujah!!

Trusting God
Update
My aunt had the stress test today. Praise God! She came through it just fine. Thank-you, my friends, for your prayers. She is feeling so much better today. I know that she feels more at ease about the surgery, which is now scheduled for tomorrow. I appreciate you all so much. It is so heartwarming to come to my "spot" and find the comments of concern and encouragement. It means more to me than you know.
It's never easy watching someone you love suffer in pain. My aunt, bless her heart, fell two weeks ago and broke her shoulder. She is sixty-five, long divorced and basically lives alone. Immediately after falling, she was taken to the hospital. This is when she was told it was broken. The shoulder was placed in a sling and she was told to return by fifth of April to see what was happening with it. She was informed at this appointment that it was not healing the way they had hoped it would. This would mean surgery would be necessary. Not what she wanted to hear.
She called me in tears with last Thursday evening with the news. Worry was all around her. "Can you please go with me?" she asked. She always wanted a daughter, but since she had all boys instead, four to be exact, she adopted me. A role that has been a pleasure. This is my mother's sister and one of the most unselfish people I know. My mother and father were divorced when I was four years old. Needless to say, it was alot tougher on single mothers at that time. The resources were not readily available as they are now. Money was not always there for the extras, but this aunt made sure I, and my siblings had plenty for Christmas. She ordered our presents from the Sears catalog right along with her boy's items. This secret was not revealed until recently.
Her surgery was scheduled for this morning. I knew she would have an anxious night of worry, so before bed I prayed for her. I prayed for peace, comfort, and rest to be unto her. After my time of prayer, I felt the need to call her and let her know that everything was going to be fine and that I would meet her at the hospital. One of her sons and his wife wanted to drive her there.
She was taken back shortly after arriving. The nurse told us we could go back and visit with her after the prep, two at a time, until she was to be transported to the surgical area. By this time, her other two sons had arrived. I wanted to go back and pray with her before she was taken out (I knew she wanted this too), but I didn't want to intrude on her children's time. I chose to wait it out and go in only if the boys suggested it. They did.
When I got back there to her, she was nervous, of course, and had been poked several times without success. Her veins had collapsed. I sat down and we prayed. She had a heart attack several years ago and this impending surgery was a concern. They came to take her to the surgical waiting area and took us to a larger family room. This cut the visitors to one. She was told only one person could stay with her until the anesthesia was administered. She seemed to be calmer, but this was temporary.
After the routine anesthesiologist questioning, her anxiousness returned. He was concerned that her heart doctor had not signed off her surgery. He told us he was going to call the cardiologist before proceeding. I knew this put more worry into motion for her. I tried to calm her. I told her that whatever happened we were going to look at it as God's will because we had placed it in His hands. He always knows what is best.
It wasn't long before the answer came from the cardiologist. NO. He wanted her to have a stress test before having this surgery. All the while, my aunt thought all of these concerns had been addressed before now. Here we were in pre-op, and there has been a change of plans. I have never heard of this happening before, but I know God was in it. Why not today? I can't explain that. I just trust the wisdom of God and know that He sees everything we can't.
My aunt has now been placed in a private room where she will be taken care of until the stress test is given. She is relieved, to say the least. Please pray for her to heal quickly either way.

Jesus Loves The Little Children
You never know how much your heart can swell until one of your children does something to inflate it. I was sitting on the couch earlier tonight half heartedly reading the newspaper. Nathan was running around the livingroom turning it into a den of clutter. He is a one man show when it comes to strewing the place.
After he had pulled everything off the coffee table and ran around it about fifty thousand times, he stopped suddenly and came over to the couch where I was sitting. Still scanning the paper, I hadn't noticed he had laid his head down beside me.
"Mama, on-na pay." he said. I knew he was saying something, but I kept reading. "Mama! he called to me boldly as he repeated "On-na pay." You want to play? I asked him. ON-NApay he spoke a little bolder as he kept his face burrowed in the cushion.
It was then I realized what my little blessing was saying to me. He has been in the bedroom with me at times of prayer where we are kneeling at the foot of the bed. He was saying "I want to pray." I immediately stood up followed him to my room where he laid his precious, little head on the foot of my bed for prayer. There are no words to describe what this meant to me. Riches (earthly) cannot compare.

How Sweet.

Keeper of the Home: I Feel Honored has given me the "Thinking Blogger Award". I am so surprised and I accept graciously. Thank-you, again, Sharon. I came across her blog a few weeks ago and enjoy the time I spend over there.
Sharon has already tagged several of my favorites and with good reason. With so many great bloggers out there, I feel that I can't even classify myself as such, but I enjoy keeping up with everyone in my "family". And now I have to choose five ladies to keep the rules.
I will start with Beth. Her posts about her faith are ones that I really enjoy. She is a Pentecostal believer and not ashamed! I like that in her.
Lisa is another one. She is who she is. Not looking to please anyone, but her saviour.
Another Sharon. She is involved with her church and family. She keeps it real.
My dearly loved Sara, who is taking a break to care for her newborn. I miss her and await her return.
And then there is Everyday Mommy, now she will get that thinking cap on for sure! I don't comment there very often, but I look forward to the read.
IF you are tagged, please link to the post that tagged you, AND write a post with five links to blogs that made you think. There are two versions of the award. You may choose either one.

Celebrity Sighting
Can you believe I, the camera toting mama, had a moment of missed opportunity? I completely blew it today. How could I have not taken a discreet picture? Why? Why? Why? It's not so much that I wanted the picture for my personal collection, although it would have been nice. I wanted to have a picture to share with my friends. Awwwww......I know, how thoughtful of me, right?
Here's the story. I went to my mother's to take her to lunch. Nothing special, just lunch. We decided to go to Cracker Barrel. Big surprise, huh? Nathan was anxiously awaiting his grilled chicken and corn vittles and I was trying to keep him entertained until it got there. Have I mentioned how good those hot, corn muffins are? They are even better with a little promise spread on them. It was busy as usual during lunch and people were coming and going quickly.
After cutting up Nathan's chicken, I tried to eat mine as quickly as possible. Dining out with him is a lot better than it used to be and for that, I am thankful. Anyway, I noticed some "guests" (as we are called at C.B.) being seated. They sat down at the table across from us. It was two females and one male. The male was wearing dark glasses and carrying a new baby. Nothing really unusual about them until...........he slid his shades down to order.
I knew it was him. It was the American Idol runner up. Yes, it was. Clay Aiken, himself. He was trying to be oh so unnoticeable. It was working. No one else seem to recognize him, not even his server. I was surprised by this, not that I am a big fan or anything, but I know lots of people are. And I'm not saying that I don't admire his ability and work, (he works with children) I do, and of course, he's from the south. What's not to love about him? I didn't want to stare, so I played the game, until I got up. I was going out to the gift shop with Nathan while my mother and papa finished their meal.
It just so happened that he was getting up to go out at the same time. Should I say something or not, I pondered. I decided to. I spoke very quietly to him acknowledging who he was and I let him know that I knew he was trying to be incognito and I wasn't going to blow his cover. He then thanked me. My mother, on the other hand, God bless her,had already alerted the manager to his presence. Thus began a cycle of stares and whispers amongst the staff.
I didn't stay around to see what happened after this. I just hope he was able to enjoy his meal in peace. What I keep asking myself is why I didn't take at least one picture! I knew I was going to blog about seeing him there. I could have taken one with my cell phone or my camera, as I had it in my purse. Why? He would have never known and I would have proof of my celebrity encounter with pictures to prove it! *sigh* Maybe next time.

Thoughts
I listened to some convicting preaching tonight. The speaker was a younger fellow, full of the Holy Ghost and compassion. Definitely something the world needs more of. He spoke of missed opportunities to witness to those in need around us. One of the scriptures he used as a reference was powerful to me and I want to share it.
They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them. Proverbs 28:4
Am I praising the wicked when I allow others to spew out profanities in front of me and my children? Or when they take my precious Lord's name in vain? How about when someone tells me how they "lied" to get what they wanted?(i.e. discounts, promotions, sympathy.) And then there is the occasional conversation with someone concerning immoral behavior. What is my reaction to these scenarios? Do I gently, but firmly ask the profanity to cease? And when another "sister" or "brother" in the Lord share their indiscretions without shame, do I soothe them (by not saying anything) and allow them to stay in their sin, or do I point them to the word and remind them what God says about liars and immorality? (all in love, of course) We have an awesome responsibility as Christians. I'm not advocating standing on a corner and screaming the wrath of God here. I am speaking of people we have daily contact with on our jobs, in our church. And I am not judging. We are to contend for our faith. I don't want to disappoint my saviour.

High Heels Ain't For Boys
Does anyone care to guess who this is?
I can tell you that my legs haven't been this small in.....ummmm....years.

When Nathan came wobbling through the house with these on, I couldn't resist snapping these pictures. He usually wears daddy's boots, but traded them temporarily.

End Times
I am writing this post with a very heavy heart. There is no doubt, we're in the last days. The news is full of children being destroyed daily. Everytime I think of the six year old child that was put in a garbage bag after being violated, I am sickened. Utterly sickened. There are no words to describe the outrage I felt upon hearing of this. This ungodly crime was committed by four adults. Justice. I want to see justice in this case. I pray this doesn't go unpunished or fast tracked out of the justice system. Don't get me wrong, I know they need Jesus as their saviour as much as I did, and I pray they receive Him, but I want to see justice.
And then today. Today while I scanned the pages of the newspaper, I find out that a seven week old infant has had his genitals mutilated! My dear Lord, in heaven. Although the mother has claimed her dachshund was responsible, the police are not buying it. HIS OWN MOTHER! My God, My God. Yes, we are living in the end times. We have so much to pray about. Please join me in praying for the protection of our children all over. It is with much pleasure the devil is going about to destroy. Especially one who may be the next Billy Graham or anyone else the Lord has anointed to bring worth the word. There are countless other horrific crimes we may never know about, but God sees and knows them all. I can't imagine the grief of our heavenly father.

Saturday
I know these are in random order, but does anyone want to guess where we spent Saturday?
My boys. Notice what Nathan is clutching.
My wonderful hubby still going strong after 4 hrs. sleep.
This is a pond in a little sub.
This is Caleb's prize shell.
And here he strikes a pose.
This is Amanda "striking a pose" she is such a cut up!
Can you see the seagull? The camera didn't capture the beauty of it completely.
Beautiful surf. This is the same beach hubs and I started vacationing at over 20 years ago, right after we were married. We choose to bring our children here because it is one of the smaller beaches that caters to families and one that is the last to sell alcoholic beverages. A great big plus to this!
This is a little cafe by the beach. We always walk past it to get to the ocean, but we have never eaten there. Isn't that strange?
My handsome son collecting shells.
I love my babies!
Nathan with one of his "finds".
Nathan was so cute picking up shells. He didn't want to be disturbed.
These birdies were looking for food. We didn't bring anything with us today. They can get really bad in the summer. We didn't see many of them on this trip.
This is the pier that leads to the water. It is a nice walkway now, compared to what it use to be. It's still a little narrow, but then again, they think everyone is a size 0. *grin*
This is what I saw after descending the pier. Caleb and Amanda's shoes. They were in a hurry to get the first season sand between their toes.
Shell searching. It wasn't crowded on the beach today. Of course it's not time yet. Just wait until Easter weekend.

My beautiful girl. I am soooo blessed!
We had such a wonderful day! I praise God for His blessings on my family. It is by His grace, and His grace alone.

Girl's Night Out
My sister took me out for my birthday last night. I know it was a few weeks ago, but we haven't had a chance to get together. We went to Texas Roadhouse and had a wonderful meal. Just the two of us. Now for those of you that *know* me, this is rare, but needful. Going out without the children and having the opportunity to go with my sister. We don't spend nearly enough time together and this was apparent from all the conversation we had "stocked up." We talked and talked. We were oblivious to anyone else in the restaurant as we chatted.
I like the food here, but not the bar. We had a pleasant server, another rarity around here, and our food was hot and delicious. I had the ribeye, my favorite and she had sirloin. I can honestly say this is the only place I enjoy ordering steak. I am not one to waste money on this and it has caused my husband to get a little irritated with me. It's not like he can't order what he wants and let me order something a little less expensive. I don't want to order steak, just for the sake of *ordering* steak.
We decided to do a little shopping while we were out. I know ya'll get tired of my advertising my favorites, but I can't help it. I am a bargain shopper, even if I don't buy anything. *grin* Anyway, we did the usual rounds and headed to Ross first. I was a little disappointed in the stock. I have pondered on purchasing a particular item of cookware, (anything to help me cook like Rachel Ray) and thought I might find it on this trip. I didn't. However, I did find a nice Izod shirt for my son, Caleb. Very low price. I was pleased with my only purchase from there.
Next it was on to T.J. Maxx. I love browsing the Home section. This is where I usually find my tea treasures. We looked at the cookware, but didn't find the one I was looking for there either. I found a bowl with a similar pattern of one my from my childhood. This brought up a lot of memories for my sister and I. Our grandmother use to have this particular pattern of tableware and used it everyday! She didn't have it tucked away for special occassions like I have some of my things. This has caused me to think. Why not enjoy those pieces while we can. I think I am going to incorporate using some of my treasures into everyday meals. Not for oodles of noodles or spaghetti o's, mind you, but some of the family sit downs. I think I can, I think I can........

Spring
My Bradford Pear tree is in full bloom. These are very popular around here. Great landscaping trees. I have only one, but it is a beauty. The sad thing about these are they announce Spring, but the blooms don't last long. Shortly after they *advertise* they return to foilage. Still pretty, though.
This is one of my birdhouses. I have yellow bells planted beneath, but due to Ahem.....neighbor's dogs, they haven't faired too well, thus, no picture. Notice the green cedar behind the birdhouse. I personally, *patting myself on the back* planted this one from a tiny seedling. The picture doesn't do it justice. Of course that is my opinion.
This little birdhouse had fallen from it's perch and I hadn't noticed until today. Sad, I know. I put it back, but it still has the remnants of ground abuse.
My camera is not equipped to capture things as beautiful as this next one. It is very hard to see, but at the top is a worker bee in one of my evergreens. I am sorry that you can't see what I was witnessing. I am in awe of God and how He has made provisions for EVERYTHING in the cycle of life!
The very first picture is of a plant that a dear christian lady gave me several years ago. Actually, she gave me a small piece of it and told me it would grow anywhere. At the time, I was not so sure. I didn't get the full scope of it, but she was right. I can't remember the name of it right now, but it has grown. It's also a sticker and one that I will have to watch when Nathan is outside.

It Is Well
Often we read the bible or passages in the bible without *getting* it. Many lessons can be found in one passage of scripture if we take the time to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us, teach us, and encourage us. I don't want to miss a thing. I want the passion and the message poured into my life, as well as flowing out, for others to see, hear and know Jesus! It's about glorifying Him.
My last post I talked about hearing the gospel and as christians, we may have heard it so much that we are not *moved* by it anymore. I find this true as well in reading the scriptures. How many times have we read about miracles and instead of being awed, we have taken it lightly? I mean, you know where we read about the hand of God doing something so divine and because there are only a few verses depicting it, we don't comprehend the full magnitude of what God is trying to say to us. I realize God may emphasis certain scriptures during times of our life to minister to us and use the same scripture at yet another time to minister to a different need. This is just another awesome thing about our Lord. God is the same. He hasn't changed. He wants us to know Him and acknowledge Him for all that He is!
I think this was a lesson on the power of the tongue, but it also displays the power God has placed within us, as women. I want to go ahead and share the wondrous message of last Sunday's service and some of the nuggets I came away with. I have read this before, but I had never *gotten* it the way I did Sunday. In 2 Kings Chapter 4 the word says this
8. And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
9And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.
10Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
How many times have you read verse 8 and realized the woman was "great"? I hadn't. Another thing I had not thought about was this husband/wife must have had wealth. In verse 10 it says they built a little chamber or room. This was apart from the rest of the house, meaning it had it's own entrance for Elisha to come and go as he pleased. Something else, she recognized the anointing of God upon Elisha's life and she wanted to be a help to him. She did this without expecting anything in return. How do I know this? Read verse 13 carefully.
11And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.
12And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.
13And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
In verse 11 I imagine Elisha going into his private room for rest, maybe after a time he had spent ministering, and thought about all the needs of so many. And then maybe after all the needs of others came to mind, he thought about how nice his room was and how good his supper was. (verse 8) It says that as often as he passed by he ate. He knew he could count on a good meal as well as a place of rest. Considering these things, he wanted to bless her for being a blessing to him, but when called for her and asked what he could do for her, she didn't ask for anything. Whether it was because she had need of nothing or either she was content, I do not know, but Elisha wanted to do something for her and asked Gehazi his opinion on the matter.
14And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.
She did not ask for a child. I don't know if this was an unspoken desire of hers or if Gehazi just thought this was the perfect blessing for her. The scripture doesn't state that here. In my own opinion, I think by her reaction in verse 16, she may have had the desire, but given it up long ago. In the next few verses, we read of the son being given to her and the sudden death of him.
15And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.
16And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.
17And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.
18And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers.
19And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother.
20And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.
Here in verse 20, I cannot, and do not want to imagine the grief and utter shock this woman was going through. What I do want to draw attention to is the strength and faith of this woman. Also in verse 23 what she told her husband when he began to question her about why she was going to see the man of God. IT SHALL BE WELL. She did not tell him the boy was dead. I can't imagine how she was able to keep it together without telling him. The power of words.
21And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.
22And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.
23And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.
In verse 24 I see a woman with a mission. She saddles her own donkey while her servant looks on. Shouldn't he be doing this? Once saddled, she informed the servant to get her to the man of God and get there quick. And not to slow down unless she told him to.
25So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite:
Just for a smile moment.... did you catch that southern vernacular in verse 25? " Behold, yonder is that Shunammite:
Emphasis mine on yonder. *smile*
I believe when Elisha saw her coming he knew something must be wrong. This was a woman that would not just come for a visit. Another reason I believe he knew it to be urgent is he told Gehazi in verse 26 to run to her. Notice the questions he told him to ask her and notice her answer. It is Well.
26Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well:
She was not wasting time and didn't want to talk about it with anyone except the man of God. She would not be deterred until she got there. Notice what verse 27 says. She grabbed him by the feet. I picture this woman falling at his feet in such sorrow and pain. She had to touch him, he had to know her hurt. Again, verse 28 makes me think she secretly desired a child, but never verbalized it for whatever reason. Look at what she says. I can sense the grief in her words..
27And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me.
28Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me?
In verse 29 Elisha sent his servant, but this mother was not going to settle for that. She had come all this way and she was determined. She let Elisha know she wasn't going anywhere until HE went to her son. It's apparent Elisha knew she wasn't playing and she wasn't planning on giving up. Look at what she said in verse 30. I am sure she said those words and I think a little more cause look what it says after that.........."And he arose and followed her." I think he learned a little about dealing with a determined woman. Don't you? *grin*
29Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child.
30And the mother of the child said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her.
The rest of the story goes on to tell of how her son was restored. Can you see her now? Picking her son up after his life was restored and taking him into their part of the house. Going on into the kitchen to prepare the evening meal for the family like nothing happened. Imagine the conversation around the table when her husband came in to eat. Remember, he had been in the fields. He may have asked her about her trip or maybe she told him everything. Maybe she didn't. Maybe she repeated her previous statement. All is Well. I don't know, but Praise God! What a wonderful thing, but what if the woman would have done things differently? What if soon after her son died she would have went out to her husband and told him the horrible news. I pray I am never confronted with anything like this. When I tried to picture myself, I didn't see me being as strong. I would have probably ran out out of the house screaming for my husband. I'm not saying we shouldn't share things with our spouse, because we are. We should be as one, but in this case, she knew better. Was it because she knew what he would have said to her? Would he have shared her same desperation and faith or would he have joined in mourning and held a funeral? Therefore never knowing the joy of having their son restored. I don't know. I hope you seen the strength and faith of this woman like I did. God has placed something within us, ladies! I know we feel insignificant at times, but God has faith in us. Isn't that wonderful?
It is well. Can we say that with confidence? When I mentioned the power of words, I am not talking about "positve thinking" neither am I saying that we should bury our heads in the sand and act like nothing is going on. I am saying that we need to recognize our problems and then acknowledge God and allow HIM to be God in us!
I know this has been long, but I know it has been worth the time to read. I saw many things in this I had never seen before. Even as I read it again for this post. Something else important here, this is more than a story. It is an actual event that took place. More than one lesson can be taken from this and applied to my life. How about you?

Refreshed
Revival was great! Each night the message was encouraging words that I needed to hear. Anita was wondering what a revival is. One definition states that it is a series of meetings held in the same place for several nights. And it is mainly in the south. That was news to me. I thought it was common in all denominations. My own definition is: A series of meetings held by a guest speaker to "stir up the gifts" within is and reignite the fire of the Holy Ghost in our lives. I feel that it is also a time God uses to minister to us "one on one" and cause us to reflect on our spiritual walk. You know, examine our own selves since we've already figured out what is wrong with everyone else. *grin*
I personally feel that the word should accomplish this in our *normal* services, but sad to say, it doesn't always happen. We have become a people that is "Gospel hardened" meaning we have heard it so much that it falls on ears that are not "hearing" anymore. In other words, some of us have become "immune" to God's word. The book of Revelation opens this up more when it speaks of the churches and the state it is in. Laodician keeps coming to mind here.
Sunday morning service was wonderful. There was a particular story in the bible that I have read many times before, but Sunday I saw it in a different way. I plan to post more on that later. You ladies will like it, I'm sure. I know I did. I will try to post it in the next couple of days. Until then, blessings to all!

Pearly White
I just love the way my teeth feel right after a dental cleaning. Like shiny, new pearls , or what I would imagine new pearls to feel like. I can't help but roll my tongue over my teeth. My mouth feels so much fresher and I almost think water taste purer and I am certain they look a shade whiter. I have also made the resolution to take more care of what I put in my mouth. I don't want them to get dirty. I want this feeling to last forever! I know with time our teeth start to stain, but with all the products available, I want to stay on top of it.
I was thinking about this earlier and comparing it to our spiritual life. How wonderful and "clean" we feel after being washed by the blood of Jesus. As for my own experience, all things were exactly how the scripture described them. They were NEW. It was absolutely true! The grass was greener and the sky was bluer. And most important, Love. I felt such an overwhelming love. Love like I had never known before. I was completely accepted by my Lord. All my former sins had been forgiven and I was now one of His. Speaking for myself, I didn't want anything to stain this "new" creature I had become.(I am not talking about works of the law here, so please don't misunderstand.)
I did not want to do the things the "old" me use to. Those desires, by the grace of God were gone. I wanted to know more about HIM and how to live a pleasing life. I began to read God's word and believe every word of it. I was in church every service and eager to hear the word preached. In my heart, I wanted to do everything possible to *keep* myself clean. I can do nothing apart from Christ. Therein lies the problem.
There is so much going on in this world and life is full of things that keeps us busy and steals our time. The bible tells us that Lot was a righteous man, but his soul was vexed from the things going on around him. We have to remain in constant relationship with our Lord above all else. Nothing ever "goes" right if we don't. (Hard lesson I have learned) And if we are not careful, we allow things to creep back from our "old" life that will "stain" our spiritual walk. Old habits, attitudes, laziness, unconcern for our brothers and sisters are a few and this is why Paul said that he died daily. I don't want to be stained by the world's thoughts and opinions. I want to be clean and holy. " Be ye holy, for I am holy" saith the Lord. Eventually the old man will try to resurrect, none of us are immune to this, but my prayer is we can be like Paul and crucify the flesh. This comes through Christ alone.

Headaches and Purses
It's that time of year again. The sinus pressure that causes the dreadful headache that announces the beginning of Spring. I awoke with one this morning, but Praise God, it was a beautiful day!
I have been busy, busy over the weekend. I had two birthday parties, TWO! I would like to go into detail about why I had two, but I don't want to destroy the image of my perfect mothering skills. Let's just say "better late than never." *smile*
Since discovering Ross Dress For Less and T.J. Maxx, I rarely visit the mall anymore. When I go to the mall, you can bet I hit Kirkland's and Bath and Body Works. I love the new pomegranate lotion at B&B. It smells wonderful. I had a gift card and used every penny of it, plus more, sad to say, but I sure smell good. I had a nice visit to Kirkland's as well. I was only there to browse, but something caught my eye and you know what happened next. Before I knew it, I was at the checkout with a sachet. Their's are the best, you know. That's not all, I must confess, I bought a purse. I know, like what are they doing selling purses? After all, isn't this a *home* store?
I have noticed that the quilted look ones are *in* around here, especially by a certain designer. These were not designer, but looked as good for a fraction of the price. On top of all this good news, there was one in a color combination that I actually liked. (green, for those who may not know what my favorite color is) I took it off the rack and before I could pay for it, another lady had the other one just like it. ( I know she saw mine and had to have it) *smile*
I was going to post a picture, but my flash drive for the camera is in my other purse in the back of the car and.......don't ask.

Where Did I Get Those Shoes?
I wanted to wait until I was "all caught up" to post, but since that isn't happening fast enough, I thought I would pop in and let you know that "I am alive." Praise God! I was out of town for a couple of days. It was absolutely wonderful! My husband and I were celebrating our twenty-second anniversary. CHILD-FREE!! We had a wonderful time. As much as I enjoyed the peace of it all, (call me crazy) I missed my children. Taking in some of the sights and so forth, I would look at something and think "-------- would like to see this" (insert either child's name in blank) Funny how we as mothers are like that, huh?
Shortly after arriving home I got the strongest urge to *spring clean* and it hasn't let up. I pulled several things out of my closet and put them into the big, black bag of *no return*. That means once it goes in there, it goes out. I hold on to stuff that I shouldn't. I don't know why I have a hard time of letting go. Some things hold memories that stir up many emotions such as a diaper pack that had a picture of a baby that could be my daughter's twin. I don't even know where it came from, but I have saved it since she was just a tiny baby. Caleb's first sandals that as so cute and small. It's hard to believe he actually wore these. These things are definitely NOT going anywhere. Then there are cards from friends that I rarely even converse with anymore. These things can really bring on the tears. Why don't we have time to spend with our friends. Okay....I know this is an entire post on it's own, so I won't go there.
Then I have the clothes. Clothes, clothes and more clothes all in various sizes. I have pieces from my "just married" and skinny days and my "been married over 20 years" and not so skinny days. I am not kidding. I ought to check into getting those huge plastic numbers used to seperate the sizes on the racks. Not only would they come in handy in my closet, but they would also make a yard sale rack look much neater. Hmm...I wonder if they are for sale. I have the "I could never get rid of that because I WILL wear it again" piece that is in a size I only dream about. What's bad about this is if I were that size again, I probably wouldn't wear it again, I mean, uh, it would be out of style or then again, maybe not. I have heard that once you see the same style return for a second run, you are real old. Personally, I don't believe in those "old wives tales." *grin* I say if you see it return, grab it out of your closet and put it on!! (If you can still wear it)
Seriously though, the task of closet cleaning is a lot harder than it sounds. I had to make a concerted effort to place things in the "bag of no return." I found shoes that I had never even seen before, much less had worn! What's up with that?!! Blessed I tell you! Blessed! That's what we are, a people that is blessed! Praises to you, my Lord, Jesus!

Prayer Request
I would appreciate everyone that would to please pray for a family at my church. There are 3 sisters from one family that attends and just lost one of their sisters to death last week. Now, a 4th sister that attends another church, lost her husband to a heart attack early this morning. VERY unexpected and devastating! She has buried her sister only one week ago and now is dealing with the death of her spouse. They have a 17 yr. old son who is to graduate this year and as you can imagine, is not doing well. They were very close.

Betty Crocker Lives!
I would like to post about the productive day I've had as a wife and mother with pictures of me in my calico apron, polishing the furniture and how I have all the supper dishes washed, dried, and put away after preparing a fantastic feast. I would also like to add that I have next week's meals (seven nights worth) frozen in little containers awaiting to be popped out and warmed for quick, hearty meals. How all the toys are put away, all the pillows are on the couch where they belong and all the beds made. While I'm still on the subject, all homework is finished, rooms all tidy and laundry all caught up. Ahhhh, and the smell of fresh bread baking wafting through each room is an added bonus.
I can't omit the scenario of my darling children playing yahtzee on the round rug in the livingroom while the dog (mine stays outside) snores mini-decibles on the porch. Or how hubs is relaxed in his easy chair after consuming a large slice of apple pie, made from scratch, no doubt, with huge, juicy, tart apples. Let's don't forget about my planner being jam packed with tons of activities for the coming week and my grocery list waiting to be rescued from the leather binding that keeps it neat and sleek.
This would be deceptive. Nah, not deceptive, a total, flat-out lie. That's southern lingo for those who may not recognize this paticular vernacular. *Grin* As I stated in the beginning paragraph, I would LIKE to post these things, but I can't. Not saying that these things don't take place in some homes, I am sure they do...somewhere....just not here. (I am not against anyone that "has it all together") I have dishes in my sink as I sit here and type. I don't like for them to be there this long, but they are for now. We had take-out for supper. The pillows from my sofa are scattered all over the floor with a book bag, Caleb's shoes and an assortment of toys. My bed is not made. I have a good excuse for this one, but choose not to share it at this time. It's true I have frozen meals, but Lean Cuisine, and a few other companies get the credit for placing them in the little containers. The smell of fresh bread is a memory left at the wal-mart bakery. It wafts through the aisles there for sure.
I have more than one load of laundry that isn't finished and *gasp* I don't even own an apron. The most important truth of this post is I do have a family. They are not perfect. How many times have I snorted (to keep from doing something else) when I open the refrigerator to find 2 drops of milk left in a gallon jug that has been placed back onto an already crowed shelf? THROW IT AWAY, PLEASE! I have the same problem with soft drinks and juice. And dishes. For some unbeknownst reason, dishes can never make it past the kitchen counter. (I am thankful they make it from the coffee table, kitchen table, bedroom) If you're not going to load the dishwasher, can't you please place them in the sink?!!!! Nathan keeps the pillows from the sofa on the floor. No matter how many times I pick them up and put them back he comes behind me and takes them off. It's one of his favorite pastimes, along with the toy parade. No, definitely not a perfect family, but one that is very much loved!

Ramble
I had another birthday this week. Praise God for another year of health! We won't go into my age, but let's just say that my dear friend, Anita was the first to make a comment about my looking older. *Grin* How did she know? I am making plans to eat at one of my favorite restaurants that hubs is taking me to. I hope to go sometime in the coming week. It is difficult to plan with his work schedule. He is also taking me out of town for our anniversary. That is coming next weekend. I know it hasn't been that long since we were away, but I am looking forward to it again. The weather is suppose to be wonderful.
I don't know why, but I have seemed to have taken on the blahs. The last couple of days have been the worst for it. I really don't know why. My daughter told me just today that I looked good, to which I replied, " I should, I have slept for 28 hours!" This of course was after I had taken a shower and fixed my hair. Speaking of hair, I darkened mine and had just a few blonde highlights added. I like it, but my mother doesn't. She likes me au naturale, blonde. My mother is a dark brunette, like my daughter. I got the blonde from my dad's side of the family. That's about the only thing, though. *sigh*
Well, if you haven't noticed by now, this is a total pointless post. I have rambled on about absolutely nothing important. So as not to waste anymore of precious time, I am going to get off here and watch something on t.v. Hah! Now that is being productive!!
