I Have Been Slack

I know, I know, I've been slacking in the blogosphere. I have popped in and out to read my friend's blogs, even if I haven't commented for lack of time and I have prayed for those in need. I have kept my clothesline busy this week. All of my laundry has been hanging out in the wide open sunshine. I am hoping to see a difference in my electric bill. I don't want to go on a rampage here, *smile* but with gas prices the way they are every little bit helps.

Nathan is loving playtime outside. Hubs is suppose to get a smaller area fenced in the yard to help keep him contained. There is just so much for him to get into and that's not all. Fire Ants. I am almost convinced these are a plague. We haven't been able to get rid of them. I have never seen them this bad. We have put poison out for several years, but that only makes them move from one area to another. Gone are the days when you could get barefoot and fancy free on the luscious lawn.

Nathan had his second appointment with his speech therapist yesterday. I don't know, but for some reason, I am unsure about this. Not with therapy, but with Nathan's responses to the exercise. The therapist had two stacks of pictures of boys and girls. She would hold one of each up at the same time and ask Nathan "which one is the girl/boy?" His only attempt of answering this was by reaching for one of the pictures. After his choice she would scribble something on her pad. This is where I was getting a little fidgety. What was she scribbling and why was I afraid to ask? I probably wouldn't have been so uncomfortable except I knew Nathan was making his choices based on what the girl/boy in the pics was doing or holding. Balloons, bikes, and bananas captivated his attention. That's what he was going after. I wanted to bring this to her attention, but *sighing* feeling a little intimidated, I said nothing. I will see how it goes next time.

Speaking of Nathan's speech, he doesn't make full sentences well. Yesterday, while I was in the kitchen he wanted juice. Anything we put in his cup for him drink is "juice." I heard him saying "mama's juice" curious as to what he could be talking about, I turned to see him holding my water bottle. He sure knows how to bring a smile to my face.

I don't know how much time I will spend on here. It's time to get the pool going and ya'll remember what a chore that was for me last year. Whew! I am hoping to get it going by this weekend. I am planning to have a few people over for a cookout on my BRAND. NEW. GRILL!
Yes, you read it right. Hubs decided not to take anymore chance and went out and purchased himself that new grill we had discussed previously. Yay!! Grilled steak is sooo much better than broiled. I have already tried it out and it works beautifully. I will try to post pictures as soon as I can.....if I don't forget.

I went on a trip to Georgia when I was a kid to visit an Aunt in the Air Force and while there my legs and feet got all bit up by fire ants. Nasty critters - glad we don't have 'em here.

How old is Nathan? Jack, at 29 months, is only really beginning to understand boy/girl differences so I don't see how that kind of test would be helpful in speech therapy. I want to encourage you to be bold and ask as many questions as you need to. He's YOUR kid so don't be intimidated. (Read this as a pep talk and not as bossy, ok?)

We're doing the same kinds of things with the clothes line and looking for ways to fence Jack in. Our yard is small but unfenced. (Jack's favorite pastime is to shovel in patches of dirt. Fill up dump trucks and wheelbarrows etc. He plays with potato bugs and worms and yuck yuck yuck. All boy, I tell ya.)

New grill!? I'll be over with Shortybear for steak. I'm partial to a nice, thick porterhouse.

So, what you're saying is, if I come over for a visit, I will be treated to a nice dip in the pool AND a bbq'd steak? I am going to talk to the hubby to see what weekend we have free, hee hee!

I'm with Sara re: speaking up. We are our children's primary advocate and I'm sure the therapist will welcome your questions as a sign of concern and involvement with your child. I will make this a matter for prayer on your behalf.

Debbie,
Please feel free to email if you would like I was on the school board and an advocate at one time and might be able to help you. On another note my son was delayed in speech at first as he was a preemie ( only one month) but he is fine now just took him longer. I will pray for Nathan though. Yeah can Denise pick me up on the way for steaks?..LOL

I hope you enjoy your walks in the morning. I really do.

Love and Hugs,

Angel (D.)

You guys continue to convince me that you are the greatest.

Nathan will be 3 in September. He and Jack will be perfect playmates while we (you, me, Anita, Sharon, Denise,& Angel) all dip in the pool. Steaks to be promptly served following the pool time. LOL! I would love the company!

The invitation is open, girls! The weather has been absolutely gorgeous!

Seriously though, I think I was expecting a little something different on my second appt. but I think this may have been an exercise to get better acqainted with Nathan.

Sorry If I sounded a little stressed in my post. I was more or less just mulling it over. No need to worry though, believe me, I will take necessary steps to get the best care for Nathan. I plan to wait until my next visit before I make that judgement call.

Angel, thank you so much for the concern and prayers. I am truly grateful. Nathan was also a month early and only weighed 5lbs. He picked up weight quickly, though. Be on the lookout for an email.

Blessings to you all!

Give that boy of yours a hug for me.

I hope you have a great weekend and use the grill. What are you gonna make? Does your husband do the grill or you?

Hi dapoppins, thanks for stopping by. Hug has been given. *smile*

We grill steaks, chicken, ribs, veggies just to name a few. When the hubs isn't working, he will do the grill, but I also use it pretty well. So much easier and clean up is a breeze. Our new grill has a side burner. We haven't used this feature yet, but I plan to this weekend for the baked beans. (shhhhhh....don't tell anyone that I am using Bush's canned.) hehehehehe

I need to 'install' a laundry-drying device in our back-yard. The shirts I hang out are dry within 30 minutes, so I want to try drying some other things in the back-yard. It smells so much better.
I do hope that Nathan's speech-therapy will work out.
I am glad that hubs go the grill. I remember you not being all that happy that you had to broil the steaks last time.

Blessings on your Memorial Day weekend and always.

I'm finally getting around to some blogs! Steak sounds good!

Seriously though I will have Nathan in my prayers. One of my nieces has been going to speech therapy and it has helped her.

Enjoy that new grill! We grilled baby back ribs yesterday. MMMM!
